    VASE
VASE is the only art event of its kind in the nation. Students are provided the opportunity to bring artworks created in their art classes to a regional event where they are interviewed by a certified juror who evaluates their work based on a standards based rubric and their understanding of the art processes involved in the development of their artwork. Only academically eligible high school students in grades 9-12 enrolled in a Texas public or private school Texas can participate in VASE. From more than 13,000 entries last year approximately 1,444 were selected as State Qualifiers and advanced to the State VASE Event held at the UHCL campus in April. At the state event 666 artworks were awarded a Superior Rating and 103 artworks were granted Exemplary Statues with the coveted Gold Seal Award.
